What to Expect - A Positive Youth Dance Studio

THE LABORATORY is a body-positive, inclusive youth dance studio in Seattle. No cuts, no pressure to compete. We focus on confidence, teamwork, and love of movement. All music and choreography is age-appropriate.

Schedule, What to Wear, and Pricing

  • Classes held after school on Mondays and Tuesdays at Magnuson Community Center

  • Wear: clean sneakers, comfortable clothes you can move in

  • Bring: water bottle

  • Fall pricing is a simple $25/class plus processing fees. Full or partial payments accepted through Square.com

What age can my child start hip hop dance classes in Seattle?

Our kids hip hop program is designed for ages 7-12 and teens through high school. We group by age and level to keep it fun and developmentally appropriate.

Does my child need dance experience for beginning hip hop?

Not at all. Our beginning hip hop classes for kids in Seattle are built for first-timers.

What's the difference between beginning & intermediate & Advanced hip hop?

Beginning dancers will focus on fundamentals and simple routines. Intermediate movers will refine previous fundamentals while adding unique style to choreography. Advanced dancers will learn complex movement and will add their style to their performance skills.

Where are your kids hip hop classes located?

The Laboratory is inside Magnuson Community Center, in North Seattle / Shoreline / U-District area - easily accessible for families in Wallingford, Laurelhurst, Wedgwood, Cedar Park, Ravenna, Roosevelt, and NE Seattle.
